The Dance Company Choreyftes (Choreftes, meaning Dancers) was founded
in July 1993 by Maria Anthymidou, Aliki Kazouri and Mihalis Nalmbantis, in
Athens, after a long term cooperation.
The company is a non profit organization, is funded by the Hellenic Ministry of
Culture, and in 2001 it has been sponsored by the European Community for the
fourth consequent time, and by private sponsors as well.
Up till today the team has presented more than 30 productions and about 300
performances in Greece and overseas-amongst these are the performances that
have taken place within the “Thessaloniki-Cultural Capital”, at Muiderpoort Theater
in Amsterdam, at the Toscana Teatro e.t.c.-and has taken place at many Festivals
(Month of Dance at the Kipos Theater-Thessaloniki, Theater of Melina Merkouri-
Vyronas Festival, Aischyllia-Elefsina Festival, 3rd European Festival-Cyprus,
Athens Festival, Kalamata festival, Stutgart festival, Moscow festival, Holland dance
festival, Jacob’s Pillow festival).
The “DANCERS” have cooperated with internationally known choreographers
such as, James Michael Lepore, Enzo Cosimi, Vicente Saez, Jeremy Nelson and
Kurt Koegel. Also the last 6 years they have organized 10 seminars in Greece and
overseas with contemporary Dance as a theme and lectures in cooperation with the
Democritos University of Thrace, the Athens University, Paris 8, Arizona state
University, Institute of Holography e.t.c.
The company Choreftes refers not only to the people of Dance, but to each
and everyone who is interested in discovering personal, intellectual, and emotional
stimulants in the Arts.
